Sermons from January 2020
From Psalm 1, Chris shows that “A Good Life” – a life that is truly blessed, comes from delighting in the Law of the Lord. Instead of drifting away from God or ignoring Him, we will find joy and strength as we focus on the Lord, drinking in His ‘living water’, just like a tree flourishing beside the riverbank!
Daniel speaks on the subject “God Speaks” a third time – this time concentrating on God speaking through His Spirit. The Spirit of God assures us, teaches us and intercedes for us! Whether God speaks to us through His Word, His Son or His Spirit (or by some other means), the important thing is our response. Will we keep in step with The Spirit?
As well as 1 Peter 5, Peter looks at James 4 and Eph 5 as he explains that we can have peace through submission to God. We are challenged to humble ourselves and to caste our anxiety on God because He cares for us – He will lift us up in due time. “Rules without relationship leads to rebellion.”
2 Cor 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new has come.” We need to remember where our personal worth comes from. We take a look through 2 Timothy to see how we should live ‘in Christ’ and are reminded again that we “were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.” (1 Cor 6:20).
